3/7 Parent-Teacher Conference

There will be an early dismissal at 11:30am for ALL students.

3/11 – Multicultural Diversity Potluck

OKP will be hosting a potluck for our students in celebration of Multicultural Diversity Week. Please speak with your child’s teacher or our office staff to add any dishes/supplies you wish to bring.

3/15 St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. WEAR GREEN!

3/15 – Dental Truck Visit

We are having a special visit from the Colgate Truck to do a basic dental checkup for our students. Please fill out the consent form and return it to your child’s teacher.

3/25 – Easter Bunny Visit and Egg Hunt

3/27 Dismissal at 3pm for ALL students

3/28 to 4/1 – SCHOOL CLOSED

2/2 Groundhog Day
Students will unravel the mysteries of Groundhog Day and learn about its connection to the arrival of spring.

2/5 Healthy Heart Month
Students will take an interactive journey through the heart and learn how to keep their hearts healthy.

2/9 Lunar New Year Extravaganza
Students are encouraged to wear RED. They will also be enjoying an Asian-themed lunch and Spring Rolls during dismissal. All students will be treated to fortune cookies.

2/6 Happy Birthday, Our Kids Place!
Students are encouraged to wear OKP attire for a grand birthday party for OKP, as it turns 33 years old. OKP is also celebrating an incredible 18 years of service under the leadership of Mrs. Peters!

2/12 – 2/16: Scholastic Book Fair
This year, our book fair will be in person, where parents can visit and select the most interesting books with their child in our school hallway or virtually if you prefer at this link below:

2/16: President’s Day Celebration
Students will come to school dressed in presidential attire as they learn about the roles and responsibilities of being a president. Keep an eye out for our unique creation of the Oval Office.

2/14: Valentine’s Day Love Sale
Parents, send your child a sweet Valentine CandyGram message for $3.00. Students can also purchase teddy bears or donuts from our Love Sale. We also will be making a special love-inspired breakfast for the kids. Make sure they don’t eat a heavy breakfast that morning.


2/29: Black History Month Showcase
We encourage all students to dress up to celebrate African-American excellence in a unique showcase. Students are encouraged to wear dresses, suits, etc and our Parent Committee will showcase several prominent leaders.

1/2 – School Reopens. All students must submit FLU SHOT documentation by December 31st to return to school.

1/15 – School closed for ALL STUDENTS in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

MONDAY: December 18th – OKP Holiday Party! Wear your most festive clothes to enjoy hot chocolate, music, art, and cookies!

TUESDAY: December 19th – Ugly Sweater Day! Break out your quirkiest, most eye-catching ugly holiday sweater!

WEDNESDAY: December 20th – Holiday Flannel Day! Cozy up in your favorite holiday-themed flannel!

THURSDAY: December 21st – Dress Like an Elf Day! Channel your inner elf with pointy ears, green and red attire, and maybe even a touch of glitter!

FRIDAY: December 22nd – Holiday Pajama Day! Roll out of bed and come to school in your coziest pajamas! PLEASE NOTE: DISMISSAL IS AT 3:00 PM FOR ALL STUDENTS.

Our Fall Picture Day is on Monday, October 16th!

We will be having our annual Breast Cancer Bake Sale and Pink Dress Down Day on Tuesday, October 17th. Don’t forget to WEAR PINK!

Parent night is scheduled for Thursday, September 21st for Pre-Kindergarten and 3K.

April 22nd: Earth Day

On this day students will acknowledge the environmental issues in the world and try to better care for the Earth.

April 28th: Arbor Day

Let’s find ways to make the earth green again by dedicating this day to the planting of more trees.

April 3rd: Party with the Easter Bunny!

The Easter Bunny will be coming to the classrooms for a party!

April 4th: Easter Egg Decorating

Students will decorate and design eggs.

April 5th: Easter Egg Hunt

To celebrate Easter, students will participate in an Easter Egg Hunt!

We are asking parents from various professions to speak with students about their jobs. We want to expose our young people to as much as we can about the community helpers in our neighborhood.
